TIRANA, Oct  7  /ATA/ The Board of the Energy Regulatory Entity (ERE) discussed Friday “For a change to decision no. 242, dated 23.09.2022, of the board of ERE, “On the approval of the electricity sale price of 42 ALL/kWh for consumption over 800 kWh/month for family subscribers during October 1 – December 31, 2022.”

The chairman of ERE, Petrit Ahmeti, said that “actually the situation of the energy crunch created by the war in Ukraine has compelled us to declare the state of emergency.  In result, ERE fulfilled all legal obligations shortly after the state of emergency was declared.”

Ahmeti pointed out that currently in our country, the hydro situation at HPP has improved and the consumption has decreased.

He said that “KESH (Albanian Power Corporation) price for OSHEE will not change. The price of energy will be kept unchanged.”

“ ERE Board is keeping track of the latest developments and is in the service of the government and people,”  Ahmeti said.

The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, who was in attendance of the ERE Board meeting requested the revocation of the decision to increase the price above the 800 kWh threshold.

“The board paid no heed to my proposal to keep unchanged the price of energy. I urged them to revoke the decision. There are no arguments for increasing the price of energy. All I ask you is to perform the constitutional function. The government cannot say that the decision of ERE comes into force. It cannot be justified from an economic point of view either. This Board must demonstrate legal competences. You have to make decisions in the public interest,” said Tabaku.

The ERE board meeting comes after the government refrained  from the decision to set the 800 kWh threshold in October.

Meanwhile, ERE at today’s meeting revoked the increase in the price of energy for the month of October, and proposed the entry into force of the 800 kWh threshold from November 1 to December 31, 2022.
