TIRANA, June 3 /ATA/ Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj said that starting July 1, Albanian businesses will be able to officially apply for the new ‘Double Your Entrepreneurship’ program.

During a briefing after the government meeting, Ibrahimaj said that the program aims to support entrepreneurship in all regions of the country.

“The program opens on July 1. It is crucial that businesses understand these funding opportunities and how to maximize their financing potential,” the minister said.

The minister informed that to boost business growth, the Bank of Albania has made €250 million in liquidity available through the local banks. To ensure businesses can access these funds, the Albanian government is backing the loans with a sovereign guarantee that covers up to 70% of the collateral.

This scheme will grant SMEs easier access to financing through low-interest loans ranging from 2% to 3%, depending on the risk assessment, according to Ibrahimaj. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, Dec 17 ATA/ – President Bajram Begaj on Wednesday said entrepreneurship plays a decisive role in strengthening the country’s economy and advancing its integration into the European Union, as Albania moves into the final stages of accession negotiations.

Speaking at a ceremony organised by the Tirana Chamber of Commerce and Industry to honour high-performing Albanian businesses, Begaj told the business community that the completion of the EU integration process directly affects the economy and increases the strategic importance of the private sector.

The head of state stressed the need to create conditions that allow Albanian companies to successfully compete in the European market, underlining that the process requires clear rules, transparency, the rule of law and a business environment in which entrepreneurship feels protected and valued.

“Europe is a space defined by high standards of quality, ethics and accountability, which open the way for strong but fair competition and long-term success,” Begaj said, adding that cooperation between state institutions and the business community remains essential to fostering stability and trust.

The President also praised businesses that support local communities, create jobs, promote corporate social responsibility and contribute to a more open and inclusive economy.

Begaj concluded by expressing confidence that, through strong enterprises, responsible institutions and fair cooperation, Albania will move steadily toward EU membership as a competitive economy with a clear future perspective.

TIRANA, Oct 26 /ATA/ – Tirana Slush’D is Albania’s first Slush’D event, focused on supporting founders and transforming the startup ecosystem.

Aimed at fostering innovation, it connects the Albanian entrepreneurial scene with the Balkans, Europe, and the Nordics, providing a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

Addressing the Slush’D launch event at the iconic Pyramid of Tirana, Mayor Erion Veliaj underlined importance of freedom of entrepreneurship, saying more and more young people should eye entrepreneurship as the most efficient way to become successful.

“The aspiration is not just to launch a startup, but to make sure that it becomes a long-term and sustainable project that would contribute to the country’s economy and innovation sector,” Veliaj remarked.

“It is worrisome that the findings of various public surveys in Albania show that around 70-80% of Albanian young people say they would wish to take up a government job upon graduation, whereas their Finnish, Estonian or Israeli peers say they plan to launch their businesses and become entrepreneurs. This has to change and the question is how to move from just a start-up to a stay-up?” Veliaj added.

Through a powerful networking and knowledge sharing platform, Tirana Slush’D brings together entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders to drive growth and innovation. At this launch event, Albania start-ups are provided with the chance to introduce themselves to an international jury, gain professional recognition and expand their horizon towards global markets.
