TIRANA, June 7 /ATA/ The director general of AMA, Armela Krasniqi, has been elected with a majority of votes vice-president of the European Platform of Regulatory Entities, EPRA. She was in the race with the candidate of the audiovisual media authority of Great Britain, OFCOM.

At the 59th meeting of EPRA, which is taking place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Krasniqi received the support of the majority of the 52 member authorities of EPRA, present at this meeting. With 28 votes in favor of Krasniqi vis a vis 21 votes given to the British candidate, Siobhan Walsh, the president of the AMA has been elected one of the vice-presidents of this platform. The president is Mari Vesland, director general of the Norwegian Media Authority (Medietilsynet).

This is the first time for Albania to be elected and represented at such high levels on a pan-European platform.
I am truly honored for the trust placed in me, said Krasniqi after the announcement of the voting results. Albania is a small country, but results have nothing to do with its size. You will see today’s vote in my professional dedication, energy and my full contribution during my tenure,” said Krasniqi.
EPRA consists of 56 member authorities from 47 European countries: the 27 EU member countries and the United Kingdom; the authorities of the countries that are currently in the European Union accession process, including Albania, the regulatory authorities of the potential candidate countries for the EU and the authorities of the countries of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) with the EU (Armenia, Azerbaijan).
