The WEF ranking evaluates countries based on three key pillars for energy development. In the sustainability category, Albania outperformed well-established European nations such as France, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, attributed this recognition to the Albanian government’s efforts and the vision of Prime Minister Edi Rama. She highlighted Albania’s goal to become a regional energy hub and a net energy exporter.

“Being ranked first in sustainability by one of the world’s most prestigious economic forums – the World Economic Forum – is a testament to the hard work and vision of our government,” Balluku said in a post on the social media.

She expressed pride in the international acknowledgment of the team’s achievements and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to further advancing new projects in the energy sector.

“Our greatest challenge today is to transform geopolitical risks into strategic opportunities,” Balluku added, emphasizing that such recognitions inspire continued dedication toward innovation and growth in the sector.
