The prime minister said that the government brought to zero the profit tax and VAT on all businesses with a turnover of up to 100 thousand dollars per year and cut to zero the profit tax, the income tax for all businesses up to 140 thousand dollars turnover per year”.

“When we took over government in 2013, every business with a turnover of over 20 thousand dollars a year was taxed 10%, plus 20% VAT. We halved the tax to 5% and today the measure announced last year of zero tax is active. It is also a reaction to the pandemic in support of the business”, said Rama.

“I visited some small business units in Berat. Some said that if this measure had not been taken they would have been forced to fire people. And they have not fired people,” said Rama.

And, added the prime minister, “Today, we have more small businesses in the Republic of Albania than we had in January 2020, before the pandemic began. Why? Business is encouraged.”

“We will not reduce the profit tax on big business. Profit tax for big business will remain 15%, at least for a period of time. Then, if opportunities are created, we shall cut it, why not. We are for the ones who earn less to pay less and those who earn more to pay more”, stressed Rama.

But, underlined the Prime Minister, “We have not left big business unsupported in some forms. We have supported workers in the first place, employees in large enterprises with the support package. We have supported tourism with a specific package and we have supported all manufacturing industries from façon and so on. So, we have not left them alone.”

“Besides, only in context of the reconstruction program, 25 thousand individuals are employed and support their families”, said Rama. /j.p/p.s./
