TIRANA, August 16 /ATA/ The labor market in Albania is reflecting clear signs of economic growth and improved formalization.

According to data provided today by Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj, in June 2025, there were registered 14,770 more declared employees, compared to the same period in 2024. This is a significant increase that comes as a result of a combination of active policies to promote employment and strengthen controls on informality.

Minister Malaj appreciated this progress as a clear indicator of sustainable economic growth and ongoing efforts to build a fairer and more regulated labor market.

“We thank the businesses that are contributing responsibly to this process, abiding by the law and ensuring the rights of their employees,” the minister said.

The growing trend of employee declaration has a direct impact not only on securing state budget revenues, but also on guaranteeing social rights for hundreds of thousands of citizens, through social and health insurance contributions. /a.gj/ /a.g/p.s./

TIRANA, March 17/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama called on business to support human resources, adding that collective labor contracts are an unimaginable farce and this must change.

In a meeting with the representatives of the big business about employee salaries, the prime minister emphasized that now is the time for businesses to become aware and support the employees.

The prime minister gave example of some vanguard enterprises operating in the country which have salaries that go up to 4 thousand or 5 thousand Euros and for which there is no minimum salary level of 40 thousand ALL.

“The era of exploitation of workers must be closed. We will develop this dialogue as a process against the exploitation of employees, of the labor force”, said Rama.

The prime minister emphasized that, “capitalist relations in Albania for many years have been based on exploitation and undeclared profits, much greater than those declared”.

“The question is on the choice that the business in Albania must make, i.e. leaving the country without human resources, or by making the business aware that it must build a new relationship with the workforce”, he said.

Rama asked the businessmen not to think about how to take the last penny from the employees’ pockets and leave them with slavery wages, but how to build the business together with the employees, realizing that without them the business does not exist. /gj.m/p.s./

TIRANA, April 27/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama assured today that, “No employee will be fired, but they will fill in the documents online”.

During his speech at the event for the closure of physical counters and the transition to online public services, PM Rama focused on the significance and benefits of this digital revolution.

The prime minister stressed that, “Technology and electronic devices are the same like in developed countries; it is enough to get to know and use it.”

“And today, this is fantastic news for all Albanians, who do not need to know anyone, nor talk to anyone, as it is enough to log in here and apply for all services that are provided by the state,” said the prime minister.

According to him, “There are only a small number of services that will still continue to be provided through the counters”.

“Specifically, in the Civil Registry, out of 590 counters, there will remain 150 counters because we have not yet reached the level when marriages are made through e-Albania and the oath in front of the notary is taken online, so both parties must be physically present,” he said.

Rama stressed that, “We have reached a stage when we have done a significant part of the digital revolution and give a push away to corruption in the services.”

“On the other hand, we say that no one is to leave the job. Everyone will continue to work, but will do another task. “Instead of questioning and embarrassing the citizens, they will deal with filling in of the documents online,” he said./p.s./
