“The tax system we found, a flat 10% for everyone, from the janitor to the prime minister, was completely unjust because those who earned less paid more. We introduced a progressive tax, where those who earn more pay more, and those who earn less pay less,” said Rama, while also noting that 57% of employees in the country do not pay income tax.

According to him, the government has made significant progress in terms of gender equality.

“According to UN data, Albania has climbed to 23rd place in the world for efforts towards gender equality, up from 83rd place previously. Women’s unemployment has decreased to below 10% from 16.4%, and the average wage for women has increased to 830 euros, which is very close to the average wage for men,” said Rama.
Regarding foreign investments, Rama stated that for the first time, Albania has the highest average among the countries in the region.
