Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, the SP Secretary General, Damian Gjiknuri and the mayor of Librazhd, Kastriot Gurra, inspected on Friday the works that are being carried out in the embankment of the Shkumbin river.

“In the western area of the town of Librazhd, the MoARD is implementing an investment in a 400 meter- long embankment and six concrete panels, which protect the entire area from the Shkumbin River. It is an extension of a project previously launched by the municipality. The works are expected to be completed by the end of April, ” said Krifca.

The mayor of Librazhd, Kastriot Gurra, said that he is happy that he has delivered on his commitment to the citizens through this investment.

“This investment has also become an attraction, as most of the residents take a stroll here in the evening and in the morning, treating this as a promenade. The citizens of Librazhd remember very well the time when the Shkumbin River flooded the national road, the road that connects Librazhd with Bulqiza, while today we see a promenade and I am very happy to learn that this investment will go as far as the Rrapuni bridge, where Rrapuni joins Shkumbini, ” Gurra said.

Gjiknuri said that “this is a smart investment, because it targets two directions. Not only does it further urbanize the city of Librazhd and give a breathing space to the whole city by creating other settings for people, but at the same time it addresses the problem of flooding for good.”
