– “Negotiations are coming to an end; soon is due to begin mass vaccination”-

TIRANA, March 19 /ATA/ Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu stated today that the vaccination process has gone smoothly. She made the statement at the “Qemal Stafa” school in Tirana, where the vaccination process for teachers is going on,

“There are more than 6,100 teachers who have been vaccinated, so far. There are 7 vaccination centers in Tirana, while vaccination is continuing throughout the country “, said Manastirliu.

The minister of health stressed that after the decision of the European Regulatory Authority for Medicines, the teachers accepting to get the anti-Covid vaccine has increased.

“The hesitation we have encountered in the first days has decreased. The European Medicines Authority yesterday stated that the ‘AstraZeneca’ vaccine is safe and effective. It is a vaccine that offers an even higher protection than has been proven so far in its testing phases”, said Manastirliu.

The minister of health said that the negotiations for getting other vaccine doses are near completion.

“We are near the end of the negotiations and we believe that very soon we will have good news regarding the start of a mass vaccination, also reducing the age groups for vaccination,” said Manastirliu.

The vaccination process is continuing with a combined calendar for teachers, elderly over 80 and health personnel, in focal points as well as in schools across the country. A total of 36,619 doses of COVID19 vaccine have been administered since the start of vaccination. 24401 vaccinations for health personnel, 6098 vaccinations for the elderly and 6120 vaccinations for teachers./k.s/r.e/p.s./
