TIRANA, June  20 /ATA/ Parliamentary Commission for Production, Trade and Environment held a hearing on Tuesday with the chairman of the Energy Regulatory Entity, Petrit Ahmeti, regarding the annual report of this institution for 2022.

Ahmeti said that, “the total electricity production capacity installed in our country for 2022 was 2,614 MW, registering an increasing level compared to 2021 which saw about 9 MW. In 2022, the Total Net Domestic Electricity Production is 7002645 MWh, of which, 3859730 MWh was produced by the power plants owned by the public company KESH sh.a. as well as 3142920 MWh was produced by other power plants.”

According to him, the electricity produced for the year 2022, by KESH sh.a., accounts for 55.11% of all electricity production in our country and the production of electricity from other producers accounts for about 44.89%. Compared to the year 2021, the electricity production realized by KESH sh.a. constituted 59.6% of all electricity production in our country and the production of electricity from other producers about 40.4%.

Ahmeti said that, “in recent years, floating photovoltaic plants have been added to main hydroelectric stations diversifying the sources of electricity production bringing their total installed capacity to 23 MW, while the total production continues to be 5092 MWh.”

According to him, the consumption of electricity for the year 2022 reached 7,923,713 MWh and compared to 2021, there is a decrease in the consumption of electricity in the country during 2022 by 491,123 MWh.

He pointed out that the net balance of electricity exchange of 921 GWh for 2022, results as the difference between the realized export in the amount of 2,123 GWh and the realized import in the value of 3,044 GWh. This difference, said Ahmeti, is understandable due to the fact that the Albanian electrical energy system relies on water resources.

Regarding the losses of electricity in the distribution grid throughout the year 2022, Ahmeti emphasized that this indicator decreased by 19.7%.
