TIRANA, May 14 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered a public speech during an event at Tirana’s main Skanderbeg square on Wednesday afternoon to thank voters following his Socialist Party’s sweeping victory in the Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

PM Rama praised voters for deciding to advance Albania’s European Union accession process instead of the dark past that would hamper the country’s further progress and European future.

“I would like to thank you for choosing the light of Europe’s stars instead of the darkness of the hole and fake cap. Albania chose the stars amid the hard climb to the top instead of blindly falling into the abyss,” PM Rama said.

The government head noted that Albanian voters backed his party to govern the country in the next four years after a month-long modern election campaign.

“For 30 days, Albanian citizens listened, assessed, weighted and decided to trust us, the Socialist Party for a fourth term in office. They trusted us more than ever before, because we fostered more trust in Albania and that’s why we garnered more trust from Albanians. We fostered more hope and pride for European Albania we are building and that’s why we gained the votes of a broad support to make Albania an EU member year after year,” PM Rama said.

“Albanians chose between an increasingly better Albania led with pride and governed with determination on the arduous path of our European destiny, and an Albania slandered as an increasingly worse,” Rama said.

Socialist Party has secured 83 seats in the 140-member parliament, according to preliminary results.

SP claimed over 52% of the national vote, marking a decisive win and a fourth consecutive term for Rama.

TIRANA, Jan 22 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Sali Berisha has hailed Donald Trump’s White House comeback as one of the most important events after the World War II and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

In a press statement after visiting an exhibition entitled “TRIUMPH” by artist Avni Delvina, dedicated to the U.S. President Donald J. Trump, DP leader said “Trump won the presidential elections on November 5 as saviour of the United States of America, but also rescuer of the world freedom.”

“God saved his life and such an episode was repeated later. However, Donald Trump won the presidential elections on November 5 as a saviour of U.S., as well as saviour of the world freedom,” Berisha said.

According to Berisha, “it is undeniable that US power was seized by the extreme Marxist-Leninists and post-Marxists, the Soros adherents, who posed a major threat to freedom, family and human identity.”

DP leader also levelled criticism against former President Joe Biden, saying Biden took advantage of his country’s power to pardon his own family.

“I don’t know, but the act by this outgoing president is the most unacceptable, the most illegal act, primarily on the moral aspect,” he said.
