“We have prepared an action plan. We will scrap the personal income tax on salaries up to 40,000 lek as of January 1, 2022,” PM Rama said, adding that the flat taxation system proposed by the opposition Democratic Party has been created to favour high earners to pay less in taxes.

“We apply another model with the low-incomers paying less, while the high earners should definitely pay more in taxes. However, the high earners, who receive a monthly salary ranging from 1.2 million lek up to 2.5 million lek, will see the income tax rate reduced starting on January 1, 2022,” he said.

According to him, these are not electoral campaign promises, but an action plan due to be implemented during the third term in office.
