TIRANA, Aug 3 /ATA/ – Albania’s Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) declined in July as business confidence weakened across all major sectors, particularly construction and trade, while consumer confidence continued to improve, according to the Bank of Albania.

Despite the monthly decline, the Economic Sentiment Indicator remained 5.4 points above its long-term average, according to the central bank’s latest business and consumer confidence survey.

Industrial confidence fell by 0.8 points, reflecting less optimistic assessments of export order books. However, the indicator remained about 8 points above its historical average. Manufacturers also lowered expectations for production, employment and prices in the coming months.

Confidence in the construction sector dropped by 4.6 points, driven by weaker assessments of current building activity and order books. Even so, the indicator remained around 6 points above its long-term average, while businesses reported higher expectations for prices.

The services confidence indicator declined by 2.4 points as firms gave less favourable assessments of business activity and demand. The indicator nevertheless remained about 5.5 points above its historical average.

Trade confidence fell by 3.2 points, mainly due to weaker expectations for business performance. Retailers also lowered employment expectations while raising price expectations. The indicator remained about 9 points above its long-term average.

In contrast, consumer confidence strengthened during July, rising by 2.2 points to stand 1.2 points above its historical average.

The improvement reflected more positive assessments of the country’s economic outlook, household financial conditions and willingness to make major purchases. Consumers also revised down their expectations for overall price growth.

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ – Albania’s economic sentiment indicator edged up by 1.1 points in May, remaining about seven points above its long-term average, data published by the Bank of Albania showed on Monday.

The improvement was driven primarily by stronger confidence in the construction and services sectors, alongside a rise in consumer sentiment, while confidence in trade weakened and industrial sentiment was unchanged.

Confidence in the construction sector rose by 0.7 percentage points, standing 13.3 points above its historical average. The increase reflected more favourable assessments of current building activity, partly offset by a slight deterioration in order books.

Services sector confidence climbed by 3.4 percentage points, supported by more optimistic views on demand and business activity.

Industrial confidence was broadly stable, remaining 8.3 points above its historical average. Higher production expectations were offset by weaker assessments of order books.

Confidence in the trade sector fell by 3.3 percentage points as businesses reported less favourable views on sales and employment prospects.

Consumer confidence increased by 2.5 percentage points but remained 2.1 points below its historical average. The rise was driven by improved expectations for household finances and the overall economic outlook.

The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell by 1.5 points month-on-month, according to the Bank of Albania. Despite the decline, it remains 6.4 points above its historical average, pointing to a broadly positive economic backdrop.

The fall was driven mainly by declines in services and trade confidence, alongside weaker consumer sentiment.

By contrast, industry and construction provided some support. The Industry Confidence Indicator rose by 1.5 percentage points, helped by more optimistic assessments of production and export orders.

Construction confidence increased by 4.9 percentage points, standing about 10.6 points above its historical average, supported by stronger order books.

Services confidence fell by 1.7 percentage points, reflecting weaker views on demand and current activity, while the trade indicator dropped by 3.6 points on softer sales expectations.

Consumer confidence declined by 3.2 percentage points and remains below its historical average.

The ESI is a key gauge of business and consumer expectations and an early signal of economic trends.

The overall decline was driven mainly by weaker confidence in the services and industry sectors.

In services, the confidence indicator fell by 2.8 points, reflecting less optimistic assessments of current activity and demand. Employment expectations were revised lower, while prices are expected to rise.

In industry, confidence slipped by 0.2 points, largely due to expectations of lower export orders, partly offset by improved employment expectations, while product prices are seen remaining stable.

Confidence in the trade sector and among consumers was broadly unchanged. In trade, current activity was assessed less positively, but employment expectations improved. Consumers maintained their confidence, with mixed expectations for the economic and financial outlook.

Construction remained the most optimistic sector, with confidence rising by 4.5 points and standing 16.6 points above its historical average. The increase was supported by strong business activity and current orders, while expectations for future prices also rose.

TIRANA, Aug 1 /ATA/ – Tourism has contributed to increased business and consumer confidence in Albania’s economy during July 2025.

The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) rose by 2.9 points in July, standing about 9 points above the long-term average, according to the latest data published by the Bank of Albania.

The rise was mainly driven by a significant improvement in confidence in the services and trade sectors, while the industrial sector also contributed positively, albeit to a lesser extent.

On the other hand, declines in confidence in construction and among consumers negatively impacted the overall indicator. Industry maintains upward trend, though signs of production decline appear.

According to central bank, the Confidence Indicator in Industry (CII) increased by 0.8 percentage points, standing 6.5 points above the historical average. The growth was primarily due to optimistic expectations for new contracts, even though assessments of current production declined. Expectations for prices in the industry continued their downward trend.

Construction sector has seen slight decline, but confidence indicator remains above average. The Confidence Indicator in Construction (CIC) fell by 1 percentage point in July, yet remained 14.4 points above the historical average. The decline was influenced by lower expectations for construction activity and future contractual orders. Price expectations were also revised downward.

Service sector reached highest level of the year, with its confidence indicator rising by 6.2 percentage points, reaching its highest level in 2025 and standing 17.4 points above the historical average. The improvement was supported by more positive assessments of current activity and demand. Price expectations in this sector were slightly revised downward.

BoA survey reports optimism in trade, especially regarding employment.

The trade confidence indicator rose by 3.3 percentage points, reaching a level 7.5 points above the historical average. The increase was mainly driven by expectations for employment growth in the coming months. General assessments of current business performance also had a positive impact.

The Bank of Albania reported that, unlike businesses, the consumer confidence indicator (CCI) fell by 0.9 percentage points, although it remains above the historical average and close to 2024 levels. The decline was primarily due to lower assessments of current major purchases. However, expectations for future major purchases and improved financial outlooks helped offset the decline.

TIRANA, May 2 /ATA/ – Albania’s business and consumer confidence index fell by 0.8 percentage points in April compared to March to around 7.4 percentage points about the long term-average, the Bank of Albania said on Friday.

According to the latest central bank’s report, the decrease was mainly influenced by a 6.7% decrease in the industry confidence index due to lower value of the export contracts, and to a lesser extent, from consumer confidence.

Meanwhile, confidence indicators in construction, services and trade slightly increased.

Construction Confidence indicator (BCi) increased by 1.3 percentage points in April 2025, for the second month running. The higher appraisals on the current balance of order books resulted in the increase of BCI. Expectations on employment and prices in the future are edging up.

The services Confidence indicator (sCi) was slightly up by 0.5 percentage point. The current level of SCI stands around 14 percentage points above its long-term average.

Both components of SCI – current business performance and the level of demand – inched up. In addition, services-related businesses have increased their expectations for the employment and prices in the future.

According to central bank, ESI decline in October was mainly driven by the higher confidence in the service sector.

The fall was also slightly influenced by the lower confidence in the country’s industry.

On the other hand, higher consumer confidence and the increased confidence in the trade sector provided their impact in this regard, though at a lower extent.

The increase was driven by higher confidence in the service sector, which confidence indicator rose by 4 pp to stand 19 pp above the historic average, Bank of Albania said in a monthly business and consumer confidence survey.

According to the central bank’s Business and Consumer Survey findings, the Industry Confidence Indicator (ICI) dipped by 0.9 percentage points in October, standing around 10 percentage points above the historical average. The ICI was down this month mainly as businesses reported less optimistic appraisals on current industrial production, particularly concerning the level of new order books.

Construction Confidence Indicator (BCI) rose 5.1 percentage points, currently standing around 28 points about the historic level.

TIRANA, May 2 /ATA/ – Albania’s economic confidence recorded a significant increase in April, rising to 113.8 from 107.1 in March, according to the Bank of Albania’s latest report.

According to the central bank’s report, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) rose 6.6 points to 113.8 compared to March 2024, standing 13.8 points above the long-term average.

The uptick ESI was driven by the increased confidence in the sectors of industry, services, trade as well as in consumer confidence, while confidence in construction was slightly down.

The Industry Confidence Indicator (ICI) rose 3.5 percentage points in April, mostly driven by more positive evaluation on current production and order books. The current ICI rate stands at 7 percentage points above the historical average. Businesses operating in this sector have increased expectations on employment in the future. Their expectations on selling prices in the future have remained unchanged.

The Construction Confidence Indicator (BCI) slightly fell by 0.7 percentage point for the second consecutive month in April. However, the BCI stands around 22 percentage points above the long-term average. The lower assessments of businesses operating in this sector on their current order books mainly drove to this fall. On the other hand, expectations on employment and prices in the future are edging up.

Services Confidence Indicator (SCI) increased considerably by 8.2 percentage points in April 2024, with the current SCI level close to the highest historical values, around 22 percentage points above its long-term average. Both components of SCI – current performance of business and the level of demand – picked up. Also, businesses operating in services sector have increased expectations on employment and prices for the future.

Trade Confidence Indicator (TCI) recorded the highest increase across all indicators in April 2024, by around 9.3 percentage points. The optimistic assessments on the current performance of business drove to this sharp rise. Expectations on employment were also up in April, though to a lesser extent compared with the first component. The current level of TCI stands around 13 percentage points above the historical average. Businesses operating in this sector have increased their expectations on business performance in the future, while lowering their expectations on future price.

Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rose by 3.8 percentage points, reinforcing the upward trend started last month. Its current level has exceeded the historical average by 4.6 percentage points. The CCI improved in April 2024 thanks to all its components, respectively: improved expectations on the overall economic situation, the financial situation, as well as an on major purchases. Expectations on the overall future prices and employment have been revised downwards.
