TIRANA, June 2 /ATA/ – Albania’s economic sentiment index (ESI) rose 1.1 percentage points in May to around 8.9 percentage points above the long term average, according to the central bank’s business and consumer confidence survey.

According to the Bank of Albania, the rise in the ESI in May was driven by the improved confidence among the sectors of industry, and services. The services confidence indicator rose by 2.2 percentage points in May.

Conversely, the decline of confidence in the industry and trade sectors provided a negative contribution to the aggregated indicator for the economy. Consumer confidence remained unchanged, at the same level as the previous month

Industry Confidence indicator (ICI) increased by 8 percentage points in May thus offsetting the decline in the previous month. Its level is again above the historical average by approximately 7.8 percentage points this month. The improvement in the ICI was driven by optimistic assessments of businesses for orders from exports. Additionally, businesses operating in industry sector were more optimistic about current industrial production. Expectations on prices in the future have slightly declined compared to the previous month.

The central bank’s survey found that construction confidence indicator (BCI) fell by 3.4 percentage points in May. However, it stands around 13.4 percentage points above the historical average. The BCI dipped this month as businesses lowered both the assessments on current construction activity and expectations regarding order books. Expectations on prices were revised slightly up in May 2025.

Trade Confidence indicator (TCI) declined by 1.8 percentage points in May. The current level of TCI stands around 4 percentage points above the historical average. The more pessimistic assessments of businesses on their current business performance was the main factor behind the decline in the TCI. To a lesser extent, expectations on future employment levels also had a downward impact. Expectations on prices for the future are revised upward.

TIRANA, March 3 /ATA/ – Albania’s economic sentiment index (ESI) increased by 0.9 percentage points in February after two consecutive months of decline, at around seven percentage points above the long-term average, the Bank of Albania said in its latest report.

Central bank said in its monthly business and consumer confidence survey that the increase was driven by stronger confidence in industry, trade, and consumer sentiment, though construction and services saw declines.

“The higher ESI in this month stemmed from the enhanced confidence in industry, construction and among consumers. On the other hand, confidence across the sectors of industry and services turned down,” Bank of Albania said.

TIRANA, Nov 1 /ATA/ – Albania’s economic confidence index slightly increased 0.4 percentage points from the previous month to 113 in October, the Bank of Albania said on Friday.

According to the central bank’s business and consumer survey, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) stands around 13 points above the historical average.

The improved ESI I in October was mainly driven by the higher confidence in the sector of services, as well as the higher consumer confidence and the increased confidence in the trade sector provided their impact in this regard, though at a lower extent.

On the other hand, confidence indicators in the sectors of industry and construction have declined compared to the previous month.

Industry Confidence Indicator (ICI) fell 2.5 percentage points in October, standing around 10 percentage points above the historical average. The ICI was down this month mainly as businesses reported less optimistic appraisals on current industrial production, particularly concerning the level of new order books. In addition, businesses operating in industry sector are not optimistic regarding the level of industrial production for the future. Expectations on selling prices in the future slightly decreased compared to the previous month.

Construction Confidence Indicator (BCI) contracted by 3.3 percentage points in October. Though, the current BCI’s level stands 23 points above the historical average and close to the historical maximum. The decline of the BCI in October was driven by both of its components: assessments of current construction business and the level of new order books. Expectations for selling prices in the future also edged down.

Services Confidence Indicator (SCI) rose by 4 percentage points in October, determining the overall increase of the indicator. The current level of SCI stands 19 percentage points above the historical average. The SCI increased mainly on the back of more positive balances regarding the current performance of their activity and the current level of the demand. Services-related businesses have revised down the performance of prices in the future.
