TIRANA, December 26/ATA/ The 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia (‘Tour of Italy’) will kick off in Albania, hosting the prestigious departure of the Corsa Rosa for the first time in its history.

The foreign media has echoed the news which has been published by 700 news sources in 70 different countries.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared in the social media this morning the story published by the “Sky Sport” in Italy, while emphasizing that “Giro d’Italia” is one of the most watched events in the world.

“The Grande Partenza” (Grand Start) of the Giro d’Italia from Albania in the coming May (one of the most watched sporting events in the world, with over 800 million viewers through screens in 200 countries around the world), has been published in 70 different countries by 700 news sources,” Rama wrote.

“Giro d’Italia”, one of the most famous sporting events in the world, chose Albania among many candidates to host “La Grande Partenza 2025, which will be broadcast live on over 200 televisions around the world.

The “Giro d’Italia” is an annual multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in Italy, while also starting in, or passing through, other countries. The first race was organized in 1909 to increase sales of the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport and the race is still run by a subsidiary of that paper’s owner.

Hundreds of cyclists are expected to be present throughout a week, participating in many events.

“Giro d’Italia Grande Partenza” is an event that in the 114-year history of the race has only been transferred 14 times outside the Italian borders. The first three stages are expected to take place in Albania, to continue the activity in Italy. /p.s./

TIRANA, August 18/ATA/ – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni recently paid a short visit to Albania where she met with her counterpart Edi Rama. An exclusive video broadcast by the Albanian broadcaster “TV Klan” showed the arrival of PM Meloni, who, according to local media, stayed in the country for 2-3 days with her family, according to “Sky tg24”.

Along with her, “Corriere della Sera” reported that together with Meloni there were her partner Andrea Giambruno and their daughter.

“From the images, taken from a distance, it is not possible to understand who is on board of the boat”. According to the “Via Solferino” paper, it could have been her sister Arianna with her brother-in-law Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Agriculture.

PM Meloni, who was on holiday with her family in Puglia, went to Albania for a short time and held a private meeting with her counterpart Edi Rama.

According to Albanian media reports, Meloni arrived in the country on August 14, and stayed there for 2-3 days together with her family.

The local press highlighted Meloni’s willingness to accept PM Rama’s invitation in recent days to visit the Albanian coast, which welcomed this summer about 500 thousand Italian nationals.

Meloni returns Puglia after visiting Albania

Prime Minister Meloni has returned Puglia, to continue her summer holidays after the break in Albania.

Rama received Meloni at the government residence in Dhërmi. Meloni spent August 15 there, enjoying a trip to the sea with a motorboat, as could be seen in the images played by “Rtv Klan”.

After three days in Albania, the prime minister returns to Puglia, where she has chosen a farm in Ceglie Messapica, in the Brindisi area, to spend some relaxing time.

In an interview for “Libero”, Socialist PM Rama defined Meloni as “a tiger”.

“On the international scene, Giorgia has surprised everyone, I would say alla grande, because while they were waiting for a fascist monster that would march on Europe, they found themselves in front of a woman with amazing communication skills as a European, since now she has not said anything wrong,” PM Rama emphasized earlier. //a.i/p.s./
