TIRANA, May 18 /ATA/ – A redesigned version of the e-Albania government services platform is launched, aimed at providing faster, more secure and more accessible digital services for citizens and businesses, the National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI) said on Monday.

The upgraded platform, branded e-Albania 2.0, has been rebuilt on a fully modernised infrastructure as part of Albania’s broader digital transformation strategy for public services.

“The new platform has been redesigned on an entirely modernised infrastructure to deliver a faster, safer and more intuitive experience for citizens and businesses,” AKSHI said in a statement.

Built using advanced technologies and updated performance standards, the platform is intended to improve reliability, efficiency and system stability across online public services, the Agency added.

The new version also introduces expanded accessibility features aimed at making digital services easier to use for people with disabilities, in line with efforts to ensure more inclusive access to public services.

For businesses, e-Albania 2.0 includes new functions allowing users to manage authorisations and temporarily delegate access to electronic services with greater flexibility and oversight.

AKSHI said the platform’s updated verification system also enhances user security through advanced two-factor authentication methods.

The e-Albania portal serves as the country’s main online gateway for accessing electronic public services provided by Albanian state institutions.

TIRANA, October 21/ATA/ The e-Albania platform is to facilitate citizens’ access to public services, offering simple and efficient options for different categories of the population.

During the period January-September 2025 alone, 4187 retired citizens have completed the online declaration of pension withdrawal at the bank, without having to physically appear at the institutions.

The electronic service, which is valid for pensioners who withdraw their pension at second-tier banks, allows declaration only once a year, significantly reducing the time and costs for this process.

This service is part of the Albanian Government’s efforts to digitalize the administration and make it easier for citizens, especially the third age group, to access public services.

Since April 3, 2024, all pensioners, the persons receiving economic assistance, beneficiaries of unemployment benefits, disabled workers or orphans, have the opportunity to open an account at second-tier banks at zero cost.

The Law “On Payment Accounts with Basic Services”, adopted in December last year, provides that these categories can have an account and be provided with a bank card, through which they can withdraw money, make payments or up to 5 bank transfers within the country with zero fees. This account is functional only in the local currency (lek), and also serves to receive the pension or economic assistance that the beneficiary categories receive. /e.xh/j.p/r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, Oct 16 /ATA/ – The National Agency for Information Society (NAIS) said on Thursday that digital government services on the e-Albania portal remain free for both citizens and businesses, dismissing recent media reports that companies would be charged for every transaction.

The Agency, which oversees the platform, said in a statement that core services continue to be offered at no cost under normal use, except where specific fees are set by law or by the relevant public institution.

“Services on e-Albania remain free for citizens and businesses in their regular use,” NAIS said, adding that new fees apply only to private entities seeking direct technical integration with government databases.

The charges, introduced under a recent decision by the Council of Ministers, target companies that wish to connect their systems to the government’s interoperability platform to exchange real-time data.

“These fees do not apply to ordinary users of the portal, but only to entities using advanced technical functions,” the Agency said.

NAIS also noted that existing fees for electronic signatures and seals remain unchanged.

A new voluntary digital signature service for citizens has been introduced, aimed at reducing the cost and time of processes that typically require physical presence or notary services. The electronic signature allows individuals to complete tasks such as signing contracts, authorizations, or declarations entirely online with full legal validity.

NAIS said the first trusted services to be launched under this framework will include notarized parental authorizations for minors to travel abroad- a process that will now be available online.

TIRANA, August 14/ATA/ Business representatives and citizens of Tirana can check their local obligations in real time through the electronic service “Local taxes – Tirana Municipality” on the unique government portal e-Albania.

Until now, this service was mainly oriented towards businesses, but it has now been extended to citizens who own commercial units or other assets used for economic activity.

This service gives users the opportunity to have direct and real-time access to the updated value of their local obligations, including penalties for late payments.

From building, land and agricultural land taxes, to cleaning fees, signboard fees or use of public spaces, each obligation is displayed in detail by year, amount and installment.

In addition to transparency on obligations, the service “Certificate of liquidation of local taxes – Tirana Municipality” also offers the opportunity to download the relevant document that the entity has no obligations to the Tirana Municipality.

This certificate may be required for various legal, administrative or commercial procedures and is now obtained immediately, without the need to physically appear at the counter.

The services do not require any accompanying documentation, the procedure is carried out with just a few clicks and the information is accessible from any device with internet access. Users can download unpaid obligations in the form of a collection mandate at any time, or the confirmation of the liquidation of these obligations, saving time and avoiding bureaucracy.

With this expansion, the Directorate of Local Taxes and Tariffs in the Municipality of Tirana aims to simplify procedures, increase transparency and offer both businesses and citizens a practical tool to manage their local obligations and provide the necessary documentation in real time. /k.s/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, April 11/ATA/ National Agency for the Information Society is the partner institution and promoter in the Albanian government’s approach to the digitalization of public services and the e-Albania platform stands as a cornerstone in this modernization process.

Head of the e-Albania government portal Nevila Repishti said in an interview with ATA that currently 1253 public services are offered electronically or 95% of the public services of central institutions are accessible with a single click, providing services to over 3.3 million citizens and businesses.

“Today, there are 49 million public services that have been received through e-Albania,” Repishti said to ATA.

“e-Albania has revolutionized the way of providing public services 24/7 at no cost, without queues and without physical contact with administration employees. This transformation began in 2013, driven by the government’s vision to eliminate the inefficiency of traditional governance”, she states.

“There are 220 types of documents that are provided by Administration officials through the Electronic Signature Document Circulation System (SQDNE) that enables the communication and exchange of accompanying documents between state institutions.

“Since May 2022, all documents for public services are issued electronically, with an electronic seal or signature, avoiding physical contact and reducing opportunities for corruption, as well as increasing transparency”, claims the head of the e-Albania.

While 95% of public services are already online, e-Albania 2.0 is a project that is expected to be implemented in collaboration with the World Bank to bring more advanced services to citizens and businesses.

This platform, based on the “life events” model and the latest technologies, according to Repishti, will offer simpler services for everyone, including people with disabilities and the elderly, also with the help of a virtual assistant in its 2.0 version.

“Proactive electronic services will also be introduced to increase the speed, quality and efficiency of providing public services online. On the other hand, there is work underway to redesign the e-Albania portal and mobile application with a “mobile by default” approach, given that more and more users are accessing the portal from their smartphones”, Repishti said.

Head of the e-Albania platform said that soon, “International accessibility standards for people with disabilities will get integrated so that the portal is easily usable by them”. Also, the basic infrastructure of electronic services and the Government Interaction Platform will be upgraded, in which 297 million transactions were registered last year alone”, Repishti said in the interview for ATA. /p.s./
