Deputy Prime Minister, Arben Ahmetaj, also Minister of State for Reconstruction and Reforms Programme, said Wednesday that an additional funding of $60 million is needed to complete all the reconstruction projects in Durrres alone.

“The government continues providing funding to support reconstruction projects in Kavaje, Durres and other quake-hit areas across the country. After the damage assessments carried out by the Construction Institute, the Municipality of Durres alone needs an additional funding of $60 million to complete all the reconstruction projects. The Council of Ministers also made a decision about construction of educational facilities. After tackling issues in bigger urban areas, we will go on with the construction of smaller educational facilities. The post-earthquake reconstruction process has ushered in a very advanced phase,” Deputy PM Ahmetaj said in a statement after the cabinet meeting.

According to Ahmetaj, a good part of projects on construction of single-family homes, apartment buildings and educational facilities are set to complete later this year, whereas work will then kick off on construction of the new residential complex in Kombinat area.
