Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, Besart Kadia, stated that the construction of the Port of Durrës will cost 2.1 billion euros. He said that the investment will be exempt from two taxes.

Kadia said that it will have a direct impact on employment with 12 thousand employees. The Albanian state, he said, is a shareholder with 33% stake.

“The project will be developed in two phases that will be relatively separate from each other in space and time, but will be integrated at the end of the project. The budget or investment cost of the project is estimated to be 2.1 billion euros. The total investment in the first phase is estimated to be 595 million euros and for the second phase 1.4 billion euros”, said Kadia.
According to him, any allegation regarding the connection of this agreement with off-shore entities is abusive.
