The United Nations Development Program in Albania (UNDP Albania) held on Tuesday the first meeting of the Steering Committee of “Infrastructure Support for Communities” project.

The intervention will upgrade the infrastructure of 3 educational facilities damaged by the November 26 earthquake in Durrës. Specifically, the reconstruction of the “Isuf Ferra” kindergarten, Shkozet, the repair of the joint high school “Jusuf Hoti,” Katund i Ri and the repair of the 9-year school “Zyber Sallaku,” Manza.

About 740 students and children in total will be the direct beneficiaries of this project as part of the financial support worth 2.3 million euros provided by the governments of Denmark and the United Kingdom through the Sustainable Development Goals Fund implemented by UNDP Albania in cooperation with the Albanian government.

The works will be carried out in line with the European standards and based on the basic principles of “rebuild better” and “rebuild together”, to provide more modern, safer, more energy efficient and accessible environments for people with disabilities.
