TIRANA, December 30/ATA/ The wave of price increases that the Albanian economy experienced in 2022, with the start of the war in Ukraine, has fallen reaching 2% at the end of November.

Governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko stated that inflation has been falling rapidly, fully recovering from the blow it suffered due to the increase in prices in international markets and reached the level of 2% in November 2024.

“After the blows that not only the Albanian economy, but also the regional and global economy has received from the post-pandemic crisis and the war in Ukraine, inflation has fallen. As a result of the tightening monetary policy that we immediately followed and the appreciation of the exchange rate, but also the decline in inflation among our trading partners, we have reached an inflation level below 3%, which is the objective of the Bank of Albania. So, we are at the average level of 2%”, said Sejko in a video posted in the social media. /r.e//a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, February 15/ATA/ The yields of 12-month treasury bills marked another significant drop in this week’s auction, the Bank of Albania reported.

According to the Bank of Albania, the average yield decreased to 4.44%, from 4.86% in the previous auction on January 31. The participation of investors in the auction was again high and the total amount of requests presented reached 20.4 billion ALL, from 11 billion ALL that had been the amount announced for financing by the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MFE).

The average yield of treasury bills with 3-month maturity also fell, dropping to 2.76%, from 3.03% in the previous auction. Even here, the demand of investors was higher while the amount announced for financing by the Albanian government was 1.5 billion ALL.

The market of Albanian government securities is following the correction from the very strong increase in yields that was observed last year, due to the rapid pace of interest rate increases by the Bank of Albania.

An obvious element that is supporting the lowering of yields is the increased participation of investors in auctions./p.s./
