Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media photos of this new work, which connects the banks of the Drini River in Kukës and which is considered one of the most special and innovative projects in the field of road infrastructure in Albania.

Designed by Italian architect Giorgio Rizzo, the bridge provides a solution to an important connecting node on the national road, significantly easing traffic in this area that until now relied on a structure built over 45 years ago, before the construction of the Fierza dam.

The new bridge was built entirely outside its location and was then positioned through a rare engineering method, floating the structure on water, a special technique that makes this project unique in the region and among the rarest in Europe.

The bridge structure includes two strong concrete foundations on the shores of the lake, while its length is composed of a metal construction with a large arch, without intermediate support legs, ensuring high stability and an impressive architectural appearance.

This project has cost about 40 million euros, including the construction of two access roads, entry and exit.

The Grand Kukës Bridge is expected to have a direct impact on increasing the flow of tourists and facilitating transport along one of the most important national roads, as well as further strengthening the connections between Albania and Kosovo. /r.e/p.s./

The plant will be located in the reservoir of the Vau i Dejës hydropower plant and is expected to have an installed capacity of 13.8 MW.

This plant is not the subject of a concession and does not benefit from support measures.

The construction of the floating photovoltaic plant is one of the projects of KESH, in context of diversification of sources of energy production.

KESH currently owns only one solar plant of 5.14 MWp positioned at the Qyrsaq dam, in Vau i Dejës, while the rest of the generation assets include the 3 Hydropower plants of the Drini River Cascade./p.s./

The staffs of the three hydropower plants under the administration of KESH are on duty even during August for the cleaning of Lake Koman, where the biggest problem is the flow of the visitors.

The National Plan of thorough Cleaning of Albania started on November 7, 2021 in Vlora and has extended in all the cities of the country. /m.m/p.s./

According to the data at 10:00, the total natural flows in the cascade are 2895 m3/s, while the discharges from the Vau i Dejes Hydropower gate are 1000 m3/s.

The level of water at Fierza Lake has reached 271.42 mmd, in Koman 173.62 mmd and in Vau i Dejes 75.40 mmd.

After an intensive work, there has been completed the massive cleaning of the vegetation of the archaeological site; it is carried out by cooperation of the Shkodër Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage and the Albanian-French Mission of the “Drin Valley” project, directed by archaeologist dr. Nallbani.

This year the mission has been extended to two representative settlements of the early Middle Ages: the medieval city of Sarda, on the island of Shurdhah, and the settlement of Koman.

The study will bring a new step of data on the Arbëria culture, urbanization, development, and displacement of populations, rituals and the stage of development that these settlements had reached.

The lower Drin valley remains an important region of scientific archaeological research in Albania. /r.e/p.s./

Natural inflows in the HPP of Fierza are calculated 190 m3 / s, in the HPP of Koman 90 m3 / s, while in that of Vau i Dejes, 10 m3 / s

According to data published today by KESH, currently the daily production in the three HPPs of Cascade is estimated at 13100 MWh, while the energy reserve is 678 GWh. /a.a/p.s./

“Natural water flows in the Cascade are 885 m3 / s. The level of the lake of Fierza Hydro Power Plant is 273.82 m, while the maximum quota is 296 m. The level of the lake of Koman HPP is 172.78 m, while the maximum quota is 175.5 m.

The level of the lake in HPP of Vau i Dejës is 74.06 m, while the maximum quota is 76 m “, said KESH.

Natural flows in the HPP of Fierza are estimated at 470 m3 / s, in the HPP of Koman 390 m3 / s, while in that of Vau i Dejes, 25 m3 /s.

According to data published today by KESH, the daily production in the three HPPs of Cascade is currently estimated at 11200 MWh. /j.p/p.s./

“The level of the lake in the Fierza hydropower station is 271 m, while the maximum quota is 296 m. The level of the lake of the Koman hydropower station is 173.42 m, while the maximum quota is 175.5 m. The level of the lake in the hydropower station of Vau i Dejes is 75.36 m, while the maximum quota is 76 m “, KESH said.

According to KESH, the inflows in the Fierza hydropower station reach 800 m3 / s, in the Koman hydropower station 350 m3 / s and in the Vau i Dejes hydropower station 630 m3/s.

KESH said that for the time being the hydropower stations of Koman and Vau i Dejës are producing electricity at full capacity./a.a/p.s./

“Natural flows in the Cascade are 1220 m3/s. The level of the lake of the Hydropower station of Fierza is 267.5 m, while the maximum quota is 296 m. The level of the lake of the Koman Hydropower station is 169.7 m, while the maximum quota is 175.5 m. The level of the lake in the Hydropower station of Vau i Dejës is 74.3 m, while the maximum quota is 76 m”, said KESH.

According to the data published at noon on Tuesday by KESH, currently Koman and Vau i Dejës hydropower stations produce 10,150 MWh of energy with full capacity.

“Fierza is currently not producing any energy so that to accumulate water inflows and increase the energy reserve”, KESH said. /j.p/p.s./

PM Rama said that work is underway for the construction of this bridge over the Drin River in Kukës, part of the Durrës-Kukës-Morin highway.

“Here’s a view of the work that goes on for building the new bridge of Drin i Zi River in Kukës”, said PM Rama.

The bridge will replace the existing one over the Drin i Zi River, but shifting about 100 meters to its eastern side.

The bridge will have a length of about 350 m and will be an architectural work of art, with two concrete foundations on the shores of the lake, a metal construction with a large arch./p.s./
