TIRANA, Oct. 11 /ATA/ – “Muji and Halili”, one of the best-known tales of Albanian heroic epic poetry, is set to reach the big screen in a film adaptation by Turjan Hysko.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Blendi Gonxhja, shared footage from the film on social media, saying the production aims to bring one of the country’s most celebrated folk legends to a wider audience.

“Two heroes. One besa. A legend that never dies,” Gonxhja wrote, referring to the story passed down through generations in traditional songs accompanied by the lahuta, a traditional Albanian string instrument, and through oral tradition.

“From the songs of the lahuta to the big screen, the story that shaped generations is coming to life in an epic production,” Gonxhja said.

The Songs of the Frontier Warriors, the famous cycle of Albanian heroic epic poetry, featuring the legendary figures of Muji and Halili, is one of the most important elements of Albania’s intangible cultural heritage, conveying values such as bravery, besa – a pledge of honour and trust – dignity and perseverance.

The film is expected to give the legend a new artistic dimension and introduce it to younger generations through cinema.

“Muji and Halili” is expected to be released in cinemas soon.
