TIRANA, Sept 13 /ATA/ Integration in the European Union, legal amendments on justice system, Electoral Reform and the election of the People’s Advocate are high on the agenda of the Socialist Party for the new parliamentary session.
Bledi Çuçi, chairman of the SP parliamentary group, in a media statement, from the seat of the Assembly presidency, shared the priorities of the majority for the new parliamentary session, citing EU accession as the highlight.

“To begin with, it is the role that the Socialist Party will play in the EU accession process of Albania. In the last session, we passed a new law on the role of the parliament in the integration process, which increases the role of the parliament of Albania in this process. I guarantee you that the SP parliamentary group will do its best to make sure that in tandem with the government, which has the main role, we play the most important negotiating roles in the integration process. In the process of integration, we as a parliamentary group will play an important role in aligning the legislation with that of the EU,” Çuçi said.
The Socialist Party is expected to give another boost to the electoral reform, addressing the recommendations of the Constitutional Court, he said, adding that the majority has drawn up the draft that it will propose to the special parliamentary committee, where it expects to come to agreement with the opposition.
“The second priority is the focus of the SP group on Electoral Reform. As you know, we have a gap left by the decision of the Constitutional Court and we need to fill it as soon as possible, and for this we will focus on coming up with a suitable formula for it”, said Çuçi.
“We will insist on addressing the vote of immigrants in the electoral reform. The SP has been very clear about it and as such we need to provide the opportunity for all Albanians to cast their vote in elections. We as the SP have taken our stance and crafted the draft to address this problem, for which it is needed the consensus of the opposition to pass it and give immigrants the right to vote,” said Çuçi.
Legal changes in justice are another priority of the majority.
“A special parliamentary committee is already in place. It is discussing and has drafted some changes in the laws regulating the activity of the new justice system. We have crafted some amendments with the assistance of foreign experts on the new justice,” he said.
