TIRANA, Nov 11 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The draft budget of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs for 2025 reaches 3.8 billion lek, marking the largest budget in the history of this ministry. It supports foreign service operations and engagement in regional initiatives and European Union programs.

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, reported on Monday to the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs on the main objectives of the 2025 draft budget for his ministry, stating that it supports the key policies and strategies of Albanian diplomacy.

According to him, the 2025 budget has increased by 635 million lek, or 20 percent more compared to the current budget.

“This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to strengthening diplomacy. This budget includes support for new diplomatic and consular missions, strengthening the Stabilization and Association Agreements with the EU and the countries of the region, the ties with the EU and international organizations, as well as support for the diaspora,” said Hasani.

The Albanian chief diplomat emphasized that this budget also supports efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy.

Focusing on investments, Hasani emphasized that they include innovative projects such as the modernization of the online consular service and the e-Visa system, which will improve services for Albanian citizens abroad.

Hasani also emphasized that the budget supports the diaspora in strengthening cultural and economic ties.

“Among the objectives for 2025 are advancing integration, active participation in regional initiatives, preserving Albania’s profile, and engaging in international organizations. There will also be a focus on deepening relations with the USA, the EU, the UK, and neighboring countries such as Italy, Greece, and Turkey, to strengthen security and economic development. Furthermore, the budget will support Kosovo and the Albanian factor by contributing to constructive dialogue and close cooperation,” said Hasani.

Hasani emphasized that in 2025, four new embassies will be opened, specifically in Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Indonesia, and Kenya.

According to him, this is being done as part of strengthening Albania’s role on the international stage, as well as advancing its integration into the EU.

Regarding the goal of Albania’s integration by 2030, Hasani stated that next year negotiations will be opened for two additional clusters.

“We will open new embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, Indonesia, and Kenya, along with consulates in key strategic locations, strengthening Albania’s role on the international stage. Our goal is to achieve the 2030 mission to join the EU, transforming and integrating it, including the opening of two new clusters by the end of next year. We are committed to building a strong and trustworthy image for Albania, with a clear plan to achieve its European aspirations,” said Hasani.

The Minister also emphasized that “this process requires the cooperation of institutions, so that together we can ensure integration into the EU.”
