Berisha began his speech by looking back on the early years of the Democratic Party.

“When this party was founded, 99.9% of the people had no connection to state-building or institutions. They were mostly intellectuals from technical or humanitarian fields, but they embraced the ideals of freedom. People should be free, to speak freely, and to vote freely,” said Berisha.

“These individuals succeeded in building and turning their ideals into reality, despite the challenges. However, one thing should never be overlooked: between 1992 and 2013, Albania, to my knowledge, was the only country that grew 21 times. In 1992, wages were 5-6 dollars, and my salary as president was 16 dollars. When I mentioned this one day, someone wrote to me on Facebook claiming I was just dreaming. He was right in some sense, as it was hard to believe, but the reality was, this was Albania,” he emphasized.

The leader of the Democratic Party stated that today it is a form of narco-dictatorship, one of the worst types of dictatorships.

“It is of utmost importance that out of the 1.5 million Albanians abroad entitled to vote, the majority are able to vote. To sign with their vote for change, for rotation, because the truth is that ‘they are defeated and we win,’ and we have an excellent program, a transformative program, a bailout program for Albania,” said Berisha. /j.p/sm/
