“Albania’s NATO membership 15 years ago was one of the greatest achievements of Albanians. Today, thanks to the support of the largest military Alliance, the NATO air base was opened in Kuçova,” Basha said in a message via social media.

He said that inauguration of the air base was “good news for Albania and the entire region amid these turbulent times and the threats from Russia’s attempts to trigger new conflicts in the Western Balkans.”

He expressed gratitude to NATO, the United States of America, Türkiye, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and other Western allies for the assistance and support for peace and security in the Western Balkans.
