TIRANA, August 11/ATA/ Albanian cinema is featured at the 25th-anniversary edition of DokuFest in Prizren. Through the Short Film Forum, Albania showcases two emotional human-focused projects. This showcase stems from a cooperation pact between Albania’s National Center of Cinematography and DokuFest, expanding regional promotion for local films.

A standout project is the drama Corridors of Hope and Fear. Directed by Adrian Guri and co-produced by Ajola Daja and Adrian Guri through AR Production and AM-Production, the film is inspired by real events. It unfolds in a pediatric hospital, following two mothers as they navigate the agonizing wait and uncertainty of their children’s medical treatment. The narrative explores human fragility, parenting, and the profound bonds formed in life’s darkest moments.

The second project is “Silent Return”, directed by Dionis Prifti and produced by Genc Përmeti from Ska-Ndal Productions.

Silent Return follows Nesti after he receives a rare travel permit to Greece. Witnessing a world of unfiltered freedom shatters his worldview. Yet, his homecoming brings a harsh reality check: aggressive border interrogations, strict censorship, and the forced erasure of any foreign trace. Through Nesti’s quiet anguish, the film exposes a totalitarian regime that policed not only physical movement, but memory and human experience itself.

Two Albanian projects in the DokuFest Short Film Forum give local creators a major chance to showcase their work. This event connects filmmakers with regional experts and opens doors to new industry trends. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
