The “Digital Development Compass”, a new indicator of the United Nations Organization designed to measure the level of digital development of the 194 UN member countries, was recently published.

This indicator originates from the member states’ own data sources on the digitization of the country, publicly available, which have been collected, analyzed and made public for the first time by the UN.

The methodology of data collection and analysis is based on automatic scripts that track and analyze text materials, spreadsheets containing data on countries as well as other documents (such as pdf reports, etc.), converting them into machine-readable formats.
