During a meeting with some of them, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that he is proud of the success of each student.

“This year we broke the record for the number of students who have received top grades. Therefore, there is nothing more important than to say to them: Well done! The scholarship is a contribution of the city, not to make you rich, but to tell you, not only the students with top grades, but others as well, that if they want to get ahead in life, they have to study hard and not give up making us all proud. Your parents are common people, they come from families that have sacrificed a lot, some of them probably started from scratch in Tirana, so I am immensely grateful to them, your mothers, fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers”, said Veliaj.

Behind every successful student, he added, is a strong family, but also a dedicated teacher.

The mayor added that, in addition to scholarships for excellent students, from January 2024 the Municipality of Tirana will provide free digital courses at the TUMO Center.

“Starting January 1, all our courses will be free of charge. Together with the Albanian-American Development Fund, we have decided that, for every boy and every girl who wants to achieve digital literacy, we will grant full scholarship. No matter what his last name is, no matter what family he comes from, no matter where he comes from, where he lives, and no matter the economic background, every child in Tirana should have equal opportunities to attend digital courses”, he underlined.
