PRISHTINA, September 15 /ATA/ – Former Member of Kosovo Assembly Flora Brovina has died at 77.

With deep sorrow, the family confirmed the passing of Flora. “She lived a life defined by a profound love for her family, humanity, and her homeland. As a dedicated physician, she healed others with unwavering compassion; as a poet, she shared the beauty of her soul through her words.”

Brovina was a pediatrician, poet, humanitarian activist and politician, serving multiple terms as a Member of Parliament representing the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

Brovina had graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and specialized in pediatrics. Before working as a doctor, she had also worked as a health journalist for the “Rilindja”.

During the 1990s, she was active in humanitarian work and in advocating for the rights of women and children. She founded the League of Albanian Women and was involved in organizing peaceful protests.

Amid the 1999 Kosovo War, Serbian forces detained Flora Brovina and transferred her to a prison in Serbia. Her subsequent conviction by Serbian authorities drew widespread international outcry before she was eventually released and allowed to return to Kosovo.

Beyond her political and humanitarian work, Flora Brovina was an accomplished poet known for her significant literary contributions.

TIRANA, August 4/ATA/ The Academy of Sciences expressed its condolences today on Robert Papavrami passing away.

“The Arts Committee at the Academy of Sciences expresses its deepest condolences to the world-famous violinist Tedi Papavrami, on the passing away of Robert Papavrami, his father and teacher,” reads a post from the Academy of Sciences.

“The Albanian violin school today is poorer with this loss, but we are consoled that his artistic legacy continues into new heights, thanks to your achievements, dear Tedi”, emphasized the Academy of Sciences.

Robert Papavrami is one of the well-known figures of music in Albania. The son of Dr. Theodhor Papavrami, Robert grew up in a traditional family, where the most important thing was duty. The young Robert distinguished himself as a violinist with soul, becoming a violin teacher and producing many violinists for decades.

Even after settling in France where he ran a school, he continued with his passion for discovering talent and training young violinists. Many of his students have made their debuts and continue to be well-known on the world’s stages.

One of these students is his son, Tedi Papavrami, now a world-famous violinist.

In November 2014, Robert Papavrami, the violin teacher of several generations of Albanian artists, was honored by Prime Minister Edi Rama with the Medal of Gratitude for his long-standing contribution to Albanian art.

At a reception specially organized by the prime minister, in the Hall of Maps at the government building, his friends, family, collaborators and former students shared memories and emotions, with a sense of gratitude for what Professor Robert meant to Albanian instrumentalists. /gj.m/r.e//a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, February 5/ATA/ Lili Cingu, the well-known dancer of the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances died today at the age of 74 after a serious disease.

The well-known artist was one of the best Albanian dancers, honored with several titles for her artistic career, such as “Honor of the Nation” and “Great Master”.

Director of the Opera and Ballet Theatre Abigeila Voshtina broke the news.

“Sad for the death of the queen of Albanian dance, Lili Cingu. For years, she was the image of the Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances, giving life to more than 200 dances that she performed. Lili Cingu belongs to that constellation of artists, who took the Albanian dance to the biggest stages of the world, showing another Albania, with rich culture and folklore”, wrote Voshtina in the social media.

“The Ensemble rehearsal hall will miss her easy step and her sweet voice. But, this escape is only physical, because her name will live together with the Ensemble and wherever the Albanian dance is performed, there will be the memory of Lili Cingu with the public that loved and praised her so much”, she wrote.

Lili, as they called the well-known Liljana Cingu, was one of the Albanian dancers who created a typical personality of hers not only on stage, but also outside it.

Her age, gracefully hidden behind the elegant clothes, show a woman who survived the times thanks to her passion for beautiful Albanian dances.
