“Peleshi stated, ‘Today, we are reviewing a set of amendments to the Electoral Code aimed at making it easier for our compatriots in the diaspora to cast their ballot. An agreement has been reached to prevent any perception of disagreement.'”
Peleshi emphasized that the truth is we are all on the same page and agreed to vote for the draft amendments to the Electoral Code on the table.

According to him, the discussion regarding voting without identity cards or with documents from other countries does not fall into the scope of these amendments.
“We have no fundamental issue with this 7-8% of the Diaspora. Rightful claims were raised regarding how verifiable or unverifiable the identity cards of another country are. We do not have their databases,” he said.
Peleshi emphasized that the primary aim is to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and prevent the creation of loopholes that could allow unknown individuals to gain access.
“This is the only claim. It is not part of today’s vote, nor is it part of the Electoral Code amendment package. It falls under the Regulator’s responsibility, and I urge them to examine it carefully to avoid compromising the integrity of a process that has taken a lot of effort from both your side and ours,” said Peleshi.

“Albania needs the contribution of the diaspora in elections, as it is a right that belongs equally to both Albanians in Albania and Albanians in the diaspora,” he said.
