TIRANA, May 21/ATA/ Leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha stated today that the international postal company DHL has broke the contract it had with the CEC for the Diaspora vote and that its subcontractor collaborated closely with the Socialist Party.

“The electoral farce of May 11, 2025 also had the diaspora vote as one of its ugliest pages,” Berisha said at a press conference.

According to him, “This vote has undergone the most massive, most unscrupulous, most open manipulation.”

“This mishmash, according to our data, did not only happen in Greece, but also in Italy and some other countries,” Berisha emphasized.

Berisha added that, “in order to carry out this mishmash, DHL, on the orders of the government, broke the contract and contracted other subcontractors and have closely cooperated with the Socialist Party”.

“DHL was accepted by us because of its reputation, but the Albanian affiliated branch of the DHL functioned completely according to the orders, instructions of the government and Edi Rama. The envelopes, the votes, were not filled out by the registered citizens, but they were filled out by agents, sent from Tirana, by employees or former employees of embassies and brought about a manipulation that got out of control”, Berisha continued.

Berisha also stated that, “The Albanian Post is also implicated”. /a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, May 7/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the Socialist Party, said today that the Central Election Commission’s data on the voting envelopes received by voters in the Diaspora are encouraging and the participation is high, but as the first time, as he put it, it should be much higher than other times.

Through a video message posted in the social media before leaving for Fushë Kruja where the routine electoral meeting has been announced today, Rama reiterated the call for Albanians in Italy, Greece and other countries not to wait for the postal company to deliver the envelope, but to return it to the relevant DHL postal office.

“I would say to the Albanians of Italy with 74% of return envelopes; go ahead as there are 21 thousand undelivered envelopes yet. I would say to the Albanians of Greece with 39%; go ahead as there are 36 thousand undelivered envelopes yet. There is still time and don’t wait for them to come and take your envelope, but return it to the relevant DHL post office”, said Rama.

“From Germany 72%, but there are still 7 thousand envelopes not returned yet. The USA is very impressive, 70%, but there are still 5,500 envelopes not returned yet; Great Britain with 59%, but 7 thousand envelopes not yet returned”, affirmed Rama.

The prime minister reiterated his appeal that this process should move forward as quickly as possible, but according to Rama it is a historic opportunity, a historic vote and a historic moment.

Rama said that it would be a shame that after the effort has been made to register, the return of the ballots has not been realized that.

“In total, there are 65%; the flow continues to be high and growing, but the time is running short”, concluded Rama. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, April 23/ATA/ Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora Taulant Balla is in Thessaloniki, where he closely inspected the DHL post offices during the process of distributing ballot papers for the May 11 general elections.

Balla emphasized that the out-of-the-country vote is a historic moment for European Albania and called on the DHL operator to respect the contract with the CEC since, according to him, no wandering of compatriots in the Diaspora will be tolerated.

“The international company DHL must fulfill its obligation under the contract with the Central Election Commission, that is, with the Albanian state. We cannot tolerate any wandering of compatriots. As a state, we have paid for the post and we want the service to be properly guaranteed by the international reputation of this company and not to be excused by subcontractors,” said Balla.

In his statement from Thessaloniki, Balla said that every citizen has the right to choose the time and place of delivery through the link that has been sent to them and reminds them that the mail is prepaid by the Albanian state.

In case citizens fail to receive it on the first attempt, the postmen will make up to two more attempts to contact them.

“More than half of the ballot papers in the Diaspora have been delivered. The DHL postal service or subcontractors will notify you with an SMS or email to inform you that the shipment from the Central Election Commission has arrived (i.e. the envelope with the ballot paper inside). You can change it and set the date and time of delivery yourself according to your time and availability, in the link that DHL has sent you by SMS or by email. Click on the link and follow the instructions. You can go and pick it up at the nearest office or an office that you designate from the DHL postal service. In case you have not seen the SMS or email message, the postman will try two more times to contact you to deliver the envelope,” said Balla.

In conclusion of the message, Balla thanked voters for the participation and support they are giving to Albanian democracy and the path towards membership in the European Union, closing with the political message: “Only with Edi and the Socialist Party.” /a.f//r.e/p.s./
