Deputy PM Balluku said that Descalzi was also received by Prime Minister Edi Rama to discuss Eni’s exploration activities in the onshore Dumrea block.

“We discussed potential fresh cooperation opportunities in areas related to the energy transition, namely the production of agri-feedstock for bio-refining, to be developed on degraded lands. We are always open to cooperate with excellent and leading international companies like Eni,” Balluku said in a post on the social media.

In 2019, Albanian government and the Italian energy company Eni signed a production sharing contract for oil exploration in onshore Dumre block that covers an area of 587 sq km and is located approximately 40 km south of the capital Tirana.
