The event brought together representatives from the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Bank of Albania, key market stakeholders, and both local and international experts, who exchanged perspectives and put forward recommendations on the key needs and future development prospects of this segment of the market.
In her opening remarks, the Executive General Director of the Financial Supervisory Authority, Mimoza Kaçi, in her capacity as Chief Negotiator for Chapter 9 ‘Financial Services’, emphasized the importance of this project for strengthening and modernizing the financial markets in the country.
The derivatives market, which is currently absent in Albania, represents a key component in building a more developed and competitive capital market. Its role is essential for risk management, protection against interest rate fluctuations, and the overall strengthening of financial stability, stated Kaçi.
The event marks an important step in fulfilling the Authority’s commitments within the framework of the European Union integration process, aiming at the establishment of a developed, stable, and financial market aligned with EU standards.
The derivatives market is one of the primary financial instruments used to manage risks or to speculate on price movements of various assets, such as stocks, indices, currencies, commodities, and more.”
