The process known as the “Court of Deputies” took place on September 27, 1947 in the “17 November” cinema hall. The Supreme Military Court Council, composed of Major Niko Ceta as a chairman, Nexhat Hyseni as the first captian and Mustafa Iljazi the second captian, announced the conviction of the group of deputies of the First Legislature elected in 1945. In addition to the elected deputies, other persons involved in this thoroughly fabricated trial went before the execution with severe prison sentences. The imprisonment and condemnation of deputies and intellectuals with democratic and national orientations came at a time when the People’s Assembly had to ratify the Yugoslav Convention and declare foreign and domestic policy direction as pro-eastern with the Soviet Union at the helm.
