TIRANA, March 2 /ATA/ Realizing women’s and human rights requires not only attention to inequality and the principle of non-discrimination, but also the maximum mobilization of available resources.

Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj, stated on Tuesday that the government’s budget policies have played a key role in achieving the objectives of gender equality

According to her, budgeting for gender equality policies has increased on a year to year basis.

“From 2.8% of budget expenditures in 2018, in 2021 it has gone up to 9% of budget expenditures,” she said.

Gender – responsive budgeting is an ongoing process that is being implemented at all levels and stages of the policy-making process, as gender inequalities cannot be addressed solely through the compilation of gender-sensitive legislation, programs and schemes. Proper monetary allocations are just as important for achieving the desired results.
