TIRANA, June 6 /ATA/ Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, said that the bill to amend the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin, regarding the use of circulation certificates issued electronically, will facilitate trade and promote the supply chain within the region.

In her remarks in the plenary session of the Assembly, Denaj said that, “above all, this draft law promotes competitiveness and orients business in the agricultural economy towards smart investments to increase quality of food safety as well as value in international markets.”

“Rules of origin serve to better adapt production to the reality of the developments but above all the agreement facilitates and improves what are called rules of cumulation, which is a process that allows different products in different countries to receive the rule of origin from a specific country and benefit from the preferential quotas that this country has”, said Denaj.

The minister listed a number of benefits from the entry into force of this draft law, among which she cited: the increase in exports; more flexible rules; food safety standardization; encouraging investments in rural areas.
Denaj also focused on the government’s recent decision to determine the rules for production and construction in rural areas, which aims to increase the areas planted, production and agricultural exports.
