Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, announced on Saturday that in 2023 fish and shellfish farming accounted for 48.6% of seafood production.

“As a sector growing on a year to year basis, whose products are rich in Omega 3 and consume little water, in the aquaculture sector in the last 10 years the production for the fish category has increased 3.8 times”, Denaj informed.

Denaj emphasized that through the Albanian legislation on aquaculture, which lays down the priority areas of its development, the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to promoting and supporting the increase of production to 30,000 tons by 2030, contributing to the welfare of domestic and foreign consumers.
