The Ministry of Defense said in a press release on Monday that a total of 34 fire hotspots were identified nationwide, of which 11 have been extinguished, 6 are under monitoring, and 17 remain active.

Firefighting operations have involved 56 fire engines, 953 operational personnel, and aerial support with 6 aircraft – including 5 helicopters from the Albanian Armed Forces and one Canadair aircraft provided by Italy through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Ground crews continue to work around the clock to contain and control the remaining active fires.

Authorities are currently monitoring fires in several locations across Albania.

According to Albania’s Institute of Geosciences (IGJEO), light to moderate rainfall is expected today in Shkodër district and light rain across most other regions. However, high fire risk levels remain in the counties of Durrës, Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Korçë, Vlorë, and Gjirokastër. Moderate risk persists in Shkodër, Kukës, Dibër, and Lezhë.

The Ministry of Defense is urging citizens to exercise maximum caution, avoid any activities that could spark fires, and report suspicious fire outbreaks immediately to local authorities.
