During a televised interview, Denaj stressed that, “referring to INSTAT figures, in the third quarter of 2020, the indicator of public debt and economic recession for 2020 will be in more subdued parameters than the pessimism we had predicted. Specifically, the public debt for 2020 from 80.4% of GDP, which we had foreseen, hit the level of 77.9%. ”

Denaj said that, “the crisis induced by the pandemic is not over yet. But we managed the public finances in a positive way and economic recession did not materialize at the most negative level predicted.”

Denaj brought to attention the financial support for business and citizens through two relief packages which provided universal financial coverage during the lockdown.

Denaj also said: We have launched 3 schemes for promotion of employment and reduction of informality, which are part of the recovery package and will continue to support the sectors of economy.

The minister pointed out that, “changes to the state budget have not affected the fiscal parameters. “We aim to boost consumption, through increasing public investments, which this year are higher than previous years, but also as a result of an economy that will generate more employment opportunities and economic growth.”
