TIRANA, December 3 /ATA/ The Constitutional Court reported today that it has postponed the preliminary examination of the prime minister’s request regarding the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku by the Special Court.

The preliminary examination was scheduled for tomorrow, but it has been postponed to December 12.

According to the official announcement from the Constitutional Court, the meeting of the Judges will take place on 12.12.2025.

“The postponement was decided due to the complexity of the case, the volume of attached materials, the agenda of the Court, as well as based on the request of some of its members,” the Constitutional Court said.

The Court emphasized that all the decisions that the Meeting of Judges will take will be regularly published on its official website.

The government seeks a resolution of the dispute over competence created between the prime minister and the government, on the one hand, and the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, on the other hand, regarding the suspension of a member of the government.

TIRANA, April 14/ATA/ The fourth Albania-EU intergovernmental conference was held today in Luxembourg, where Albania opened the second cluster of negotiations with the European Union – “Internal Market”.

During the joint conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, Radoslaw Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, a country that also holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, was asked if there is another date for opening of the next cluster during the Polish presidency.

Sikorski stated that, ‘This requires unanimity; as you know for example for Ukraine we do not have unanimity. While in regard to Albania, it is going better, the problem with the dates is either you have standards or you have dates, you cannot have both. Let’s do our utmost to accelerate it because the people of freedom belong to the empire and in this case voluntarily”.

Prime Minister Edi Rama on the other hand expressed full confidence that the Polish presidency will continue to push things forward, while adding that it is our dream to be part of the EU in 2030 and for this we need to work tirelessly every day.

“We have full confidence that the Polish presidency will continue to push things forward, taking into account what Marta also mentioned. Our dream is to be part of this union in 2030, so the plan is to end all negotiations in 2027, which is a very short time and we need to work non-stop every day and we need to have more work to do”, said Rama.

“So all the members of the Albanian team who are connected to the cluster 2 are here and I can imagine, they are already under stress because they will have much more to do. But, I want to thank them and all those in the team, because they are working hard and are delivering results so far. We have experience with the EU; you never ask for a date, but you have to always be ready for a date because we are here to appear side by side with the EU”, said Rama. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, November 25/ATA/ After holding consultations on the date of the Parliamentary elections with President Bajram Begaj, Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi said that they are looking at all possibilities in terms of time to prepare for the upcoming elections.

Speaking to reporters, Celibashi said that the Central Election Commission has requested May 11, 2025, as the date for holding the elections.

“We recommended to the President of the Republic that the election date should be May 11th, although this request may coincide with someone else’s request, but it has no bearing. We do not look at the political agenda, but at the possibility we have in terms of time to prepare for the upcoming elections,” said the head of the CEC.

The Socialist Party has also proposed May 11 for holding of the Parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party in opposition boycotted the consultations with President Bajram Begaj. Head of the Parliamentary group in the DP Gazment Bardhi appreciated consultations with Begaj as a farce, since according to him the date of the elections has been set by Rama-Balla.

The head of state has held consultations with some of the leaders of the Parliamentary parties, during which the 4 representatives of the small parties have proposed May 4 as the election date. /a.f/p.s./

TIRANA, September 20 /ATA/ Minister of Culture Elva Margariti inspected today the new excavation works at Tirana mosaic.

“We all know it as the mosaic of Tirana, but it is much more than that. The new excavations are not only outlining more clearly the Roman villa and all its spaces, but pushing it to the end of the century the dating of the residence in that space”, said Minister Margariti.

“Together with Olsi and Maringleni (Tirana Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage), we were today in the territory where the students of the Faculty of History-Philology of the University of Tirana are digging together with specialists, who are lucky not only to specialize and be provided with certificates, but also to participate in a process important for the history of the city “, stressed the minister.

“We expect that with completion of the excavations and the documentation of the process and the facilities, there will emerge impressive results”, said Minister Margariti. /j.p/p.s./
