TIRANA, July  5 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Wednesday that thanks to the satellite service we have a fantastic base for reading the territory according to the needs of the institutions, which makes corruption impossible in many areas.

Prime Minister Rama was present at the launch of the first products of the satellite service, where he appreciated the impressive work that has been done in a short time in this direction.

“You remember how the introduction of this system met with snickers and sneers. In January of this year, 2 satellites Albania 1 and 2 were launched into space. Until June 21, data were collected from 16,324 km2 of the Republic of Albania. Since the weather rendered the work of those involved in this process very difficult, the service provider company added 8 more satellites at no extra charge to supply us with more images in those time periods. Today we can say that we have a fantastic data base for reading the territory according to the needs of the relevant institutions,” he said.

Rama cited the flood map which, according to him, “makes it impossible to abuse the flooded square meters.

“The satellite map makes it impossible for a flooded area of 3 km2 to turn into a flooded area of 15 km2, swelling the numbers of the water victims and damaged properties to increase the bill at the expense of the state, also increasing the rate of corruption. The assessment of the damage that until yesterday was done by groups in the field is now possible with an image,” he added.

Also, Rama underlined the importance of these images for the construction discipline which, according to him, is extraordinary.

“Now everything can be read in real time regarding the use of the territory to build, building permits and unauthorized constructions,” he added.
