TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ Paolo Bellino, CEO of RCS Sport, said on Monday that the “Giro d’Italia” in Albania will help spur tourism.

During the conference launching the big start of the “Giro d’Italia Grande Partenza” to be held next May in Albania, which was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu, Bellino said that many countries had shown interest in hosting the Grand Start of the “Giro d’Italia 2025.”

Bellino thanked Prime Minister Edi Rama, emphasizing that “we were convinced, not just by your country, not only the organization and enthusiasm, but above all by the enthusiasm and the magnetic pull of Prime Minister Rama, because he really talked us into a decision-making process which was tempting to refuse.”

Bellino said that this will be a great opportunity to showcase the breath-taking views of Albania.

“I believe we have made an excellent choice; your country is developing rapidly, and I hope this will be a fantastic opportunity for global visibility. Cycling is the ideal sport to highlight not just a cycling route, but also the stunning backdrop of the host country. It captures the essence of all of Albania, and we will showcase breathtaking views along the route,” he said.

“We need to be here on May 9th and 11th. On January 13th, we will present the entire ‘Giro d’Italia,’ and we will stay in Albania for one week. We have three stages, but the entire cycling caravan will be here for seven days, as we are moving three thousand people. So, we will truly have a lot of people and many opportunities,” he said.

“I do hope for two things: the sun and Albanians’ joy because I hope they will come out into the streets as fans,” said Paolo Bellino.

“I believe that here in Albania, you will realize that we have a strong connection potential, because after the ‘Giro d’Italia,’ you will see a truly significant increase in tourist presence, as well as the opportunity to enhance various professions,” he said.

Bellino emphasized, “It’s not just the sea, but also the inland areas of the country. There are many beautiful places to visit. So, there will be growth in the future, but at the beginning, it will be a big celebration for everyone.”

The first stage will be on May 9, from Durrës to Tirana, covering 164 km, with the route including Durrës, Bishqem-Fushë, Papër, Gracen, Surrel, and Tirana.

The second stage will cover 13.7 km through the central streets of Tirana.

The third stage will be in the Vlorë district, covering 160 km, with the route along the Vlorë River road, crossing Porto Palermo, Himarë, Qafa e Llogorasë, and ending in Vlorë.

In the meantime, Mauro Vegni, the director of the “Giro d’Italia,” announced that a launch ceremony will be held in “Skënderbej” Square on May 7.
