TIRANA, Nov 20 /ATA/ The National Authority for Cybersecurity, on International Children’s Day, hosted an event which focused on importance of protecting children in online spaces, along with the need to improve the legal framework.

In his speech, Igli Tafa, the General Director of the National Authority for Cybersecurity, highlighted that the meetings on the National Cybersecurity Strategy with key stakeholders, including the State Police, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defense, and other institutions, brought the need for legal reforms to the fore.
“The time has come to categorize cyberbullying, blackmail, and other forms of online harassment as criminal offenses. These measures are essential to prevent serious offences and to ensure a safe environment for our children,” said Tafa. He called for the immediate reporting of cases on the dedicated platform of the National Authority for Cybersecurity (AKSK), assuring that every case would be handled with the utmost confidentiality and seriousness.

The meeting, which was attended by AKSK partners and students from schools in Tirana, served as an important step towards strengthening cross-institutional cooperation and raising awareness about the importance of safe navigation on the internet. The National Authority for Cybersecurity remains committed to protecting the future and well-being of children and young people through strategies and collaborations with institutions. /j.p/sm/
