The purpose of this mission is to assist the Albanian Customs Administration with the “Customs Business Strategy 2023-2027” Action Plan, also drawn up with the assistance of the European Union in order to modernize the customs administration with view to facilitating trade.

In his remarks, Gazheli emphasized that the customs administration was highly appreciated by the European Commission in the “Screening” process and that the main priorities of the Customs Administration for the next four years are digitalization and strengthening of administrative capacities in the process towards a modern customs administration up to EU standards.

TAIEX experts highlighted Albania’s progress in the integration process mainly for Chapter 29 “Customs Union,” emphasizing that the Albanian customs administration should rise to the challenges of the customs union with the EU, according to best practices.
