TIRANA, April 7 /ATA/ Representatives from the Ministry of Education outlined the proposed curriculum revisions and updated textbooks for Civic Education, Albanian Language and other subjects during a hearing today before the Committee on Education, Science, and Sports.

General Director of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-University Education Gerti Janaqi presented some of the interventions in this regard, which according to him, will also bring about alignment with the labor market.

Janaqi said that the first full-scale reform of pre-university curricula began in 2013, covering all age groups.

“After 14 years of implementation, we are refreshing the curriculum to consolidate our progress”, he added.

Janaqi highlighted that AI must be deeply integrated into all teaching processes.

Janaqi emphasized that EU data highlights a critical need to bridge education with the professions of 2030. This requires rethinking traditional teaching methods to stay ahead of both technological advancements and broader societal shifts.

He also emphasized the need to cultivate national consciousness through improved curricula.

“In this specific case, there is also a need for a review and strengthening of the elements of the Albanian language, mainly in the 10th grade, as well as of citizenship issues, where several new elements such as media education or issues of community respect have been placed”, he said. /p.s./
