TIRANA, Oct 2 /ATA/ At the end of the first six months of the year, the euro’s average exchange rate was ALL 119.8, indicating the appreciation of the ALL by 1% and 2%, respectively, compared to the values recorded at the end of the two previous six months.

The Bank of Albania informs that, in general, the currency exchange market was calm and was characterized by normal trading parameters, with the exception of the short-term volatility on the outset of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

At the end of the first week of March 2022, in order to avoid disarray in the currency exchange market as a result of uncertainty triggered by the war in Ukraine, the Bank of Albania carried out a short-term intervention through the sale of currency and simultaneously decided to cancel three auctions for currency purchase arranged for the months of March and April 2022.

These actions were followed by the stabilization of the lek/euro exchange rate until the end of the period.
This weekend, the euro is exchanged at 116.60 ALL or 0.07 ALL more than the day before, and the US dollar has lost ground by 1.42 ALL, dropping to the exchange rate of 118.85 ALL.
