TIRANA, June 17/ATA/ “I say I am an ambassador of the love I have for my people. And perhaps, this presentation as an ambassador of love I have for my country, my culture, the Albanian traditions can be seen as politics. But, for me this is not politics, this is just life”.

This is what the American model of Albanian ancestry Emina Cunmulaj said in the 11th episode of the “FLASIM” (Let’s Talk) podcast with Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said that, “Currently, she is awaiting confirmation as the “Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania”.

PM Rama said that, “I heard your name for the first time from Arbër Hajdari, who is a fantastic guy. He doesn’t deal with politics either, but in fact can’t stay without helping the others and you have joined forces to advance the “Different Weekend” endeavor.”

“Blood is thicker than water! The borders separate us, but not our spirit. I got to know Arbër from a friend of mine, where at that time I was looking for a charity organization in Albania because I heard a lot of things happening in Albania that I thought could help the Albanian people. Even at that time, Arbri had launched the “Different Weekend”. They were working on a fantastic thing and I told Arbri to count on me, not only as an ambassador, but as an assistant. I want to help the families, to be there, to hold their hand, to tell them that everything will be OK, to know that they will have a home to live comfortably. My mother in Tuz of Montenegro was someone who, if you set foot in her house, would not let you leave the house without offering you dinner. And when we were children in the 90s, I remember the war in Kosovo. And we are the last village on the side of Montenegro located by Lake Shkodra. Refugees spent time there, too. The Yugoslav army guarded our house, came to us and walked around the house to see if there were any refugees in the house. These are things that affect you when you’re a child, but you don’t know those things until you grow up one day. My mother died 10 years ago. That spirit of her doesn’t let me sleep well when I know other people are uncomfortable. Even more so my own people. I don’t know, it’s something that is much bigger than itself. I can’t explain it”, confessed Cunmulaj.

“Although your husband has hotels and resorts that are among the most luxurious that can be found in the world, you take him by the arm and vacation in Montenegro and a little in the territorial waters of Albania,” said Rama.

Cunmulaj said that, “One of the main human emotions is love. For me, I think that everything in life starts with love, even if there is boredom, and if there is bitterness. After all, everything can be fixed with love. Everything in life passes. I love my country; I love my people. I also built a house in the village where I grew up because I want my children to never forget where their mother is from. This is my duty. I myself tell my husband: you have your duty as a father to show your children where you come from. As a mother, I have my duty. I myself cannot teach the children to speak the Iranian language, but I can only teach them the Albanian language and things that I have known all my life since childhood. When I eat beans, we call it “groshë”, dry meat, sausage… My children have grown up like this. I don’t know otherwise. So I teach what I know and what I know is love for my country. On the Adriatic coast, it’s a different feeling. I spend my time in Ulqin as if I were in the Maldives. Maybe, someone will laugh, but I feel comfortable, as they say and I can’t explain it. And I have already slowly introduced it to my husband, as well”.

“This was the honorary consul of the Republic of Albania in Florida. This was the stubborn Albanian from the village who climbed the ladder and made her a star shining at the top of fashion and this was the Albanian mother who never gives up”, said Rama at the end of the podcast with the well-known Albanian model. /k.s/ /gj .m/p.s./
