TIRANA, Dec 7 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, addressed the roundtable organized on Tuesday by the General Prosecutor’s Office on gender-based violence.

Çuçi said that he has made the political and personal commitment to further strengthen the tools and mechanisms available, by designing preventive and law enforcement policies to take the society’s fight against gender-based violence to a whole new level.

According to him, it is not enough for the State Police to enforce the law by preventing violence or arresting perpetrators, unless the justice system acts in accordance with the law.

“Gender-based violence is a scourge on our society, stemming from the gender inequality that women and girls face throughout their lives. To address this phenomenon and meet the obligations of Agenda 2030, a number of public institutions are engaged. “The Ministry of Interior and the State Police have a key role in preventing and addressing the cases of domestic violence, as well as protecting the survivors of this violence”, said Çuçi.
