TIRANA, May 11 /ATA/ The cruise ship MS Oosterdam docked on Monday in the city of Sarandë with 1,867 passengers on board, marking another significant day for maritime tourism in the south of the country.

The Director of the Port of Sarandë, Admir Malaj, told ATA today that ‘tourists arriving from various countries around the world are expected to visit tourist and cultural destinations in Sarandë and the surrounding areas, boosting the city’s tourism and economic activity.

The arrival of the cruise ship Oosterdam once again confirms the growing interest of foreign tourists in the Albanian Riviera, and especially in Sarandë, which continues to be one of the country’s most important tourist destinations,’ Malaj said.

According to him, the port authorities and tourism structures have taken the necessary measures to receive and manage the flow of visitors during their stay in the city.

“‘In recent years, ferry services and routes from Sarandë to Corfu have expanded in response to the growing number of tourists,’ Malaj noted.

The Port of Sarandë is set to welcome 28 cruise ships in 2026, bringing visitors from across the globe.

The Port of Sarandë has beefed up security and strengthened cooperation with the border police, the harbor master’s office, and the Sarandë Customs Directorate.

The coastal city of Sarandë, one of the main gateways to the country’s southern region, welcomes thousands of tourists from around the world each year, many of whom arrive at the port on cruise ships.
